What the sabbath represents
The Sabbath is more than rest; it is a symbol of creation, deliverance, and sanctification. It reminds us that the Most High completed His work and set the seventh day apart for His chosen people to rest and commune with Him.
Genesis 2:2-3
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Exodus 31:13-17
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you...
Hebrews 4:9-11
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
How we observe
Our Sabbath gatherings include Scripture reading, lessons, worship, fellowship meals, and open discussion. It’s a time to restore both spirit and community.
